Accessibility statement

What we have done so this site can be used in any way, what is still missing, and who to write to if something does not work for you.

Home·Accessibility

At Vemada Law we want anyone to be able to use this site, however they browse it: with a keyboard, with a screen reader, with enlarged text, or from a phone on a slow connection. Many of the people who look for us arrive at a hard moment in their lives, and a website should not be one more barrier.

The standard we follow

We work against the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA. That is the international standard the U.S. Department of Justice and the federal courts use as a reference when assessing a website's accessibility under the Americans with Disabilities Act.

Conformance status

This site is partially conformant with WCAG 2.1 Level AA. «Partially conformant» means we meet most of the standard, but we have not yet completed all the testing that a claim of full conformance would require. We spell out what is missing below.

What we have done

  • The whole site can be navigated with a keyboard, and a link at the top of every page lets you skip the menu and go straight to the content.
  • The focus indicator is visible and has sufficient contrast on every interactive element, on both light and dark backgrounds.
  • Every image carries alternative text, and decorative images are marked as such so screen readers skip them.
  • Text color contrast was checked one element at a time, including text placed over photographs.
  • Headings follow a correct order and page regions are marked, so the site can be navigated section by section.
  • The site adapts down to 320 pixels wide with no horizontal scrolling, and supports 200 % zoom without losing content.
  • If the operating system asks for reduced motion, the site turns its animations off.
  • Every page declares its language, and the Spanish and English versions are linked to one another.
  • Form fields have real labels, not just placeholder text.

How we tested it

The most recent review used the automated tool axe-core across every page of the site, in both languages, plus manual browser testing: a full keyboard pass, the behavior of the accordion and the mobile menu, reflow at 320 pixels, zoom, the reduced-motion preference, and measurement of the real contrast of text over photographs.

Known limitations

We would rather tell you before you run into them:

  • The office maps are an embedded Google Maps component. Its internal accessibility is not under our control. That is why each office's full address is also written out in text, next to a link that opens the location in whichever maps app you prefer.
  • Testing with commercial screen readers. We have not yet completed a round of testing with NVDA, JAWS and VoiceOver. It is planned, and until we do it we cannot claim full conformance.
  • Third-party content. The links to Instagram and WhatsApp lead to outside platforms with their own accessibility terms.
  • Attached documents. If we publish forms or guides as PDFs in the future, we commit to publishing them tagged and, if one is not, to sending you the content in another format on request.

If you run into a barrier, tell us

This statement is worth nothing if no one is on the other end. If part of the site does not work for you, write to us at info@vemadalaw.com or call us at (954) 470-6636.

It helps us a great deal if you tell us three things: which page you were on, what you were trying to do, and what tool you browse with. With that we can reproduce the problem. We answer during office hours and aim to fix it, or give you an alternative, within five business days.

Other ways we can help you

If the site does not work for you, it is not the only door. You can call us, message us on WhatsApp, or visit our Aventura or Doral offices by appointment. Everything you can do here we can also handle by phone or in person, in English or in Spanish.
